Yesterday we spent almost the entire day at a Republic Of Korea Church. A lot of the Republic of Korea ARMY goes there. We met their 3 star General and other high ranking officers. Our 1 star General went with us and it was very neat. We got up early and drove for about an hour and a half North to attend there. It was a very good opportunity for us to have some liaisons with the Korean Army.
We sang Jesus loves me in English during the offering with another Chaplain’s family and the General. Koreans are VERY friendly and absolutely love our boys. In Asian cultures you are considered very rich if you have four boys. We know we are rich in whatever children the Lord blesses us with. They fed us a wonderful traditional Korean lunch and snacks. I am enjoying all of the coffee here. It was Americano but it was strong and delicious. I had someone interpreting for me when I was trying to talk to some of them and we were also complemented by the General on how well behaved the boys were. All of the Koreans rub the boys heads and faces when they meet them which the boys find a bit uncomfortable but it’s just because they like them (plus they are blonde)!
After driving back we went to our Chapel service yesterday evening. I finally got to meet Phil’s Katusa( Korean Augmentation to the United States Army) Sgt. Lee. He is coming over for dinner this evening. I also met his Chaplain’s assistants, they are both young females and I think I will be able to have a good relationship with them. Here are a few pictures.
